I am a long established Integrative Counsellor practicing in Exeter, Devon. My work centres on alleviating depression and anxiety and helping to resolve relationship problems.
Counselling
"Everything has been figured out,
except how to live."
- Jean-Paul Sartre
I am a qualified, accredited and experienced counsellor and teacher of counselling. My counselling practice is based on Gandy Street in central Exeter. I work with individuals, couples and family relationships, helping to resolve conflict and emotional issues. You are warmly invited to talk freely and openly, in complete confidence and we can together find a new perspective, rediscover meaning and achieve lasting well-being and real happiness.
I provide an affordable and professional counselling service based on care, mindfulness and authenticity. My counselling is informed by traditional philosophy as well as theory based on current research and practice such as CBT and mindfulness. I incorporate a humanistic existential approach inspired by Zen, transpersonal creativity and always within the context of bringing care and trust to relationships.
Sessions are normally weekly for an hour, though this may vary with individual need. My fee varies between £50 and £30 per session, depending on personal circumstances. Please get in touch with any questions or feedback.
I am a fully insured, qualified and accredited member of the BACP and abide by the BACP Ethical Framework. Please ensure your counsellor is properly insured and qualified to practice. I work closely with a team of professional counsellors and therapists; I'm happy to help you find the help you need.
Teaching
I am a qualified teacher and practising university lecturer. I currently teach on a Worcester University degree course in Integrative Counselling, based at the highly regarded Iron Mill College in Exeter. As well as producing excellent counsellors, students on the course actively work to create, promote and enhance the provision of accessible and affordable therapy for those in need.
I am also teaching on a diploma in Transpersonal Therapy, which encounters deeper aspects of relationship and non-ordinary awareness. We explore philosophy and practices from ancient and modern traditions, including Buddhism, Taoism, Shamanism, Sufism, Vedanta, Magic and Zen.
I also sometimes hold workshops and individual teaching in mindfulness and meditation.
My work has been has been informed and guided through exploring philosophy and mindfulness based practices from many cultures and spiritual traditions. I am also experienced in therapy based on an existential approach and a creative use of CBT.
